Celebrity Golf Days
Each year the EBGC organises Celebrity Golf Challenge days. The courses used are Gosfield, Bentley, Wanstead and Blakes. The days start with breakfast, giving the teams and the celebs a chance to meet each other, then the participants are then placed into teams and play 18 holes of golf to Stapleford rules – i.e. players can earn points on each hole. The competition has an overall winning team, a best back 9, nearest the pin and a longest drive competition.
Amongst the celebs that have played are Steve Davis, John Conteh, Kriss Akabussi, John Cassidy, George Saunders, Barry Hearn and the late Frankie Vaughan. The players then enjoy a dinner and are entertained by one of the comedians that attend. There is then an auction and raffle to round off a wonderful day.
