Colchester Grammer School U12 89 – 7 25 Overs
Essex Association of Boys' Clubs U12 94 – 6 21.2 Overs
(Essex won by 4 wickets)
Having won the toss Colchester made steady early progress with Paterson scoring freely before Davies was caught by George Smith for 12 off the bowling of Joseph Mitchell with the score on 39.The second wicket proved to be crucial when Paterson was run out for 24 following smart fielding by the Essex team. From there on the Colchester team struggled to find runs and with Shahbaz Sattar taking 3 – 8 from 5 overs the Colchester innings finished on 89 – 7 from 25 overs with Harding the only other batsman making a contribution with his 20. Ellis Stevens took the other wicket with Shahbaz taking the catch. Pick of the bowlers were Jack Martin-Hussey 3 over for 8 runs, Joseph Mitchell 4 overs, 1 maiden 1 for 10, Jordan Tigg 5 overs 1 maiden 10 runs, Ellis Stevens 3 overs 1 for 10 and Shahbaz Sattar 5 overs 2 maidens 3 for 8.
The message to the EABC team was that if they could bat through the 25 overs they would win the match on what was a superb batting wicket and a fast outfield. The reply started well with Sam Crotch and Amar Singh scoring 46 for the first wicket from 8 overs, before Amar was caught from the bowling of Davies for 12 who bowled tidily with figures of 1 – 15 from 5 overs. Three wickets then fell in quick succession with Sam Crotch out for a great innings of 28, including 5 fours, Mohit Mahatma for 5 and George Smith for 6 with Lovejoy taking 2 of the wickets in his return of 5 -13 from 5 overs. The innings was steadied by Ellis Stevens and Joseph Mitchell who held his end up until the end of the innings. Ellis was run out on 20 by which time the match was won. In the 22nd over Joseph hit a 3 and Sam Hall won the match with a 4 to reach the target with 3.4 overs to spare and 4 wickets remaining.
This was a game when all EABC players contributed to the match. We used 2 wicket keepers, 6 bowlers and the other players were the first in the batting order. This was a good win and reflected the progress the team has made during the season.

Essex Association of Boys Clubs U14 134 – 9 32 Overs
Kimbolton School U14 121 – 9 28 Overs
(Match Drawn)
Kimbolton won the toss and invited Essex to bat on a perfect sunny and warm afternoon.
Essex were soon in trouble losing our first four wickets with only 14 on the board. Taylor did the damage taking a wicket in each of his first three overs with Qadeer claiming the other. Essex recovered in style with Will Mortimer and Gopal Sago, captain on the day, adding 57 runs for the fifth wicket. Will was stumped off the bowling of Chitty for 21. Good lower order batting from Will Bottoms and Daniel Ashford, scoring 10 and 11 respectively pushed the score along. Gopal was eighth out when he was caught by Chitty off the bowling of Qadeer for 48. Congratulations on a great captain’s innings. The tail wagged and Essex finished on a challenging total of 134 – 9 from their allocated 32 overs. Pick of the bowlers were Taylor with 3 -16 and Qadeer 3 – 24 from their 6 overs.
In their reply Kimbolton lost two early wickets with Will Bottoms claiming Neeter for 1 and Will Mortimer dismissing Gingell, also for 1, both clean bowled to leave the score on 2 – 3. A good partnership between Gingell and Kitty put on 60 runs for the third wicket before Chitty was caught off the bowling of Bradley Boreham. Wickets fell at regular intervals and when Qadeer was run out with the score on 119 with 2 overs remaining Essex were looking for the win. However, Kimbolton defended the last over from Sagoo to save the game, after 41/2 hours of enthralling cricket. Pick of the bowlers were Will Bottoms with 2 -19, Will Mortimer 2 – 20, Gopal Sagoo 2 – 20 and Bradley Boreham 1 -11.

Felsted School 211 - 5
Essex Association of Boys' Clubs 94 - 4
Both the U12 and U14 representative cricket teams are still unbeaten in 2009 after the U14's played out for a draw at Felsted.
Felsted batted first on a superb wicket with a lightning quick outfield. John Murphy was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 – 45 from his 5 overs. He claimed the wickets of Mann for 6, a sharp catch at mid wicket, and also the wickets of J.H.J. for 62 and Foley for 58, both clean bowled after they put on a partnership of 94. Owen Jeffries also clean bowled opener Stevens for 36 with a good spell of spin bowling. Felsted finished on a formidable total of 211 – 5.
The EABC reply started slowly and they lost their first wicket when George Gibbon was clean bowled to a ball that cut back sharply from Burns. The innings was steadied with an excellent partnership of 38 between Jack Pantelli and Bradley Boreham, before Pantelli was caught off of the bowling of Foley for 24. Bradley Boreham also went on to score 24 to cap a good all round performance. The remainder of the innings was batted out to secure a comfortable draw with the innings coming to a close on 94 – 4. Amar Bhardwaj and John Murphy were unbeaten on 7 and 10 at the close.

Uppingham School U14 4th XI 80 all out
Essex Association of Boys Clubs U12 82-3
Sharbaz Sattar achieved history on Tuesday (12th May 2009) by becoming the first ever junior to take a hat-trick while on representative duty for the Essex Association of Boys Clubs. The Ilford-based Frenford club member achieved the rare feat in his third over at the Rutland location when he claimed the wickets of Hooper, Taylor and Bott as the host school collapsed from 79 for five to 80 all out. The left-arm spin of Sattar yielded final bowling figures of four wickets for just four four runs from three overs. His second over produced a wicket maiden, when he bowled Uppingham's number three batsman Darling for eight runs. Accounting for his hat-trick victims, Hooper was first to go, bowled for eight runs, then, without score, Taylor and Bott were dismissed. Taylor was caught courtesy of Sam Crotch (Upminster CC), while Bott was bowled to complete the achievement.
Supporting Sattar with the ball were his Frenford team-mates Mohit Mahatma with 3-12 from three overs and Nabhaan Rizwan 1-5 from two, while Jack Martin-Hussey (Belhus CC) and Jordan Tigg (Upminster CC) took 1-10 and 1-13 respectively, both from two overs. For Uppingham School, Wignall top scored with 22 while Bridges-Webb struck three fours in a defiant 19 not out and Hollingsworth reached 11, before being caught and bowled by Tigg.
After tea, Amar Singh of Frenford club struck an undefeated 31 by trading almost exclusively in boundaries. He hit seven fours in the process, while leaving Crotch to contribute 14 as the visitors achived their first victory of the season, by seven wickets.
EABC: Sam Crotch, Jordan Tigg (Upminster CC); Ellis Stevens, Jack Martin-Hussey, Sam Hall (Belhus CC), Amar Singh, Mohit Mahatma, Sharbaz Sattar, Nabhaan Rizwan (Frenford CC), Craig Urch (Ingatestone Boys Club), James Harvey (Orsett CC).
Uppingham U14 1st XI 179-4 dec.,
Essex Association of Boys Clubs U14 69-9
Solid defending from Upminster CC duo Jack Culliford and Alex Bottoms earned the Essex Association of Boys Clubs a draw at Uppingham against very strong hosts. On an afternoon when the air conditioning was again stuck on maximum power, the host school's number three batsman Snoxhall struck a fine 50, which included eight fours. However, on the next ball after reaching his half-century, he missed a delivery which turned sharply from Ghopal Sagoo (Upminster CC) and Essex wicketkeeper George Gibbon (Orsett CC) gratefully accepted the stumping chance. In support of Snoxall were Sale, 45, while Hunter-Jones and Murray were undefeated on 25 and 15 respectively at the declaration, which came after 29 overs. For the Essex Association of Boys Clubs, Sagoo finished with 2-21 from five overs while Culliford had Sale caught and bowled to finish with 1-19. William Bottoms (Upminster CC) took the first wicket to fall when he bowled opener Sutton for 16. Prior to the game, the Boys Clubs batsmen had looked in good form in the school's nets, but found the fast, bouncy pitch a different proposition to the much slower practice facilities. Only Jack Panteli (Belhus CC) reached double figures with 14.
EABC: Jack Panteli, Owen Jefferies, Tony Ellis, Daniel Dreher (Belhus CC); Casey Adams, Alex Bottoms, William Bottoms, Jack Culliford, George Guy, Ghopal Sagoo (Upminster CC); George Gibbon (Orsett CC);
Eton College U14 172-8 dec.,
Essex Association of Boys Clubs U14 143-7
An excellent performance in all departments enabled the Essex Association of Boys Clubs to match their Eton College hosts for an honourable draw. In the day's early proceedings, Hashim Mahmud of Ilford's Frenford club took 4-17 from six overs and Bradley Boreham of Orsett CC bowled economically throughout his six overs to finish with 1-16. With William Bottoms (Upminster CC) taking 2-43 from seven overs, Eton eventually declared on 172.
The fielding at the world-famous Berkshire college was, at times, inspirational as Hamza Mahmud took two fine catches from the middle of the bat, one at cover point and the other at mid-wicket. For the hosts, the top four batsmen all made significant contributions, being Grant with 48, Gray 26, Lambton 36 and Szymanski with 33.
After tea, a 52-run third wicket partnership between Frenford club members Amar Bhardwaj and Hamza Mahmud, scoring 31 and 33 respectively boosted the Essex score considerably, but the visitors had to be content with a draw as Pearce and Szymanski took 2-34 and 2-25 respectively. Boreham completed a fine all-round performance by scoring 15 not out, George Guy of Upminster CC hit 11 runs while opening batsmen George Gibbon (Orsett CC) and Jack Panteli (Belhus CC) scored 19 and 10 respectively.
EABC: George Gibbon, Bradley Boreham (Orsett CC); Jack Panteli, Max Scott, Ellis Stevens (Belhus CC); Amar Bhardwaj, Hamza Mahmud, Hashim Mahmud (Frenford club); Casey Adams, William Bottoms, George Guy (Upminster CC).
